I’m John. I developed ALFMAX because managing a team was taking up time I needed to spend running my businesses.
Where it started
Two leased pubs.
Plenty to organise.
I run two pubs in Lanarkshire. Like other operators, I juggle rotas, absences, holidays, hours and communication alongside the business itself.
ALFMAX grew out of those everyday jobs. We use it in our own pubs to organise the week, see cover replies and keep management approvals clear. Shared cleaning lists, stock requests and named cash handovers now bring more of the daily jobs into the same system.
I’m now introducing it to other businesses and organisations that face similar coordination challenges.

Reviewing recorded hours and requiring approval for extra paid time helps me keep a closer view of our staffing costs.
My experience, in our own pubs
I estimate this saved us around £120 in one week. That’s before counting the time saved chasing cover, adding up hours, organising rotas and managing holiday requests.
This is my estimate, not a guaranteed saving. Results depend on your organisation and how you use the system. Extra time actually worked should be reviewed and recorded correctly.
